Our research is multidisciplinary by nature and we seek to bring in the best candidates from different technical backgrounds. For all positions, strong communication and analytical skills are required. We pride ourselves in having a diverse team and encourage applicants from underrpresented groups to join us.

How to contact
Applicants at the MSc level must have a strong academic record from reputable programs. At the PhD level, applicants are expected to have prior experience with design, fabrication, and characterisation of micro and nano-devices with strong research track record and high academic standing.
Applicants for post-doctoral positions must have direct hands-on experience related to the project they are considering. Evidence of strong communicaiton skills (e.g., publications and presentations) is required.
If interested in joining us, please use the following format for the subject of your email:
Student: MSc/PhD/PDF Jan/May/Sep YR AREA
For example, if you are interested in starting your studies in September of 2045 at the MSc level in the area of MEMS, the subject line will be: Student: MSc Sep 45 MEMS.
Clearly indicate your status regarding the admission requirements and include your CV, copies of your transcripts, one your most relevant publications (if you have any), and a summary of your relevant experience in your email. It will be beneficial if you have already formally applied to the School.
All graduate applicants must exceed the minimum requirements set for graduate studies by the University and the School, which include:
- A GPA of better than 80%
- Proof of English language competancy, such as:
- TOEFL IBT score of 93 with minimum of 20 in each category
- IELTS overall band score of 7.0 of the academic test with a minimum of 6.5 in each section
Funding
The graduate research can be funded with a combination of
fellowships, scholarships, and teaching or research assistantships. You
are encouraged to learn about the funding options at SFU including Graduate Fellowships and Entrance Scholarships.
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
has post-graduate fellowships for qualified
students
(must be citizens or permanent resitents of Canada).
Top-up awards are available for students who hold
NSERC CGS or PGS
awards.
